Ze Middle class- Rise up!

The middle class..How utterly despotic. No where to go, stuck between a corner and a tight spot.. Like the middle child, no idea who to look up to , who to look down upon. They settle for medium sized cars, medium sized tv's, medium sized fridges, tiny flats. Movie tickets for the middle rows, not daring to believe that they are lucky not to sit in the first row, not daring to believe they cannot afford the back rows. Middle class car lots, middle class eats, replica’s of your kin sitting next to you, talking like you, yet you follow their actions too, settling for sub standard lives, sub standard hopes. Doesn't your blood curdle at the thought of this all, no it doesn't- content to live in the ideal little world in your mind, following your itty- bitty routine to the T, no grandiose meals, no tech fantasies realised.

You are supposed to have reached your nadir, the peak of your class, but I don’t see anything, The rise the revolt nothing at all., you continue doing what you do, scoff at the prospect of rising up. Even You, the middle class crème de la crème (as if they exist) stands head bowed, knee’s trembling in front of the sophists, unwilling to rise.
Drag yourselves down by the thought of what the attempts at revolt would result in.
Thus, you remain the middle class. Watch the middle class soaps, the word middle class resounding in your eyes whenever it is uttered in front of you, a disconcerting smile appears on your face but it just doesn’t reach all the way through. No tax concessions for you- only for those below you and above you. Yet we say it is the time of the middle class.

Freeze frame- walking through the crowd, head bowed, mind numbed to the voices of despair, the lusts of being more than what you are, numbed to the reality of what it is. Each one of you tries to grade himself above the other, a bit more class, a bit more money, better clothes, a better job. Is that all what it is about, Creating further sections in the middle class, does not make you a part of ‘them’ the people seen in the society pages, the nay sayers of society, those whose views count in the maelstrom that is our society.

Even when you reach the class above you, what you will be know for is your humble origins, where you come from, they do that to get pity for you, it’s not a matter of pride. Middle class will resound throughout, forget what you did what you are, you will be portrayed as a saviour, a messiah, the inspiration for all the insipid lot of the erstwhile middle class. You reached there, good for you, but there begins another game of trying to fit in, creating further sub-sections where none exist. What will be will be- but don’t rely on this, this is just a crowd-pleaser, meant to appease others, so, break out, up and away, leave the age-old thoughts of everybody has a place in the society, a certain position, from where you came, be the change, the difference required in our morally- bankrupt society.
